Primary Care Mental Health Workers (PCMHW)

Based in most GP surgeries across York & North Yorkshire, PCMHW’s deliver brief interventions to people suffering with what are termed ‘common mental health problems’ ie. Stress, anxiety, mild to moderate depression where there are no thoughts of suicide or self harm, life transitions, anxiety based problems such as phobias and post traumatic stress disorder.  People are normally seen within 10 weeks or referral and often much quicker.
